stromboli dinner

What an adventure it is to make dinner. 

To go with dinner I made home made breadsticks. It's a Flat bread recipe, I added some fresh basil. They were amazing, just the right amount of crunch and softness. So good. (The recipe is at the bottom of this post.) 

I love crackers and cheese, and any excuse to have them out is well worth it. The oranges were a surprising favorite. Everyone ate them up!

For most of the night it was just me and six guys. It reminded me of college, but with a different group of guys. Even thought this apartment is small, it's so much fun to have it full of people. Somehow it just seems to stretch and happily accommodate everyone.

This was a particular interesting adventure, because I made Stromboli, but here's the catch. Everyone brought their own ingredients. Mushrooms, tomatos, meats and cheese, broccoli and peppers. It was very fun. Everyone was very happy with their Stromboli creations. 

The Stromboli cooking filled the apartment with such a wonderful smell. Everyone's mouth was watering while they baked.

Everything turned out beautiful. The breadsticks were my favorite.

For desert I made brownies, got ice cream and all kinds of fun toppings.  Marshmallows and Gummy Bears, chocolate chips and M&M's.  Over all it was a great night. Everyone went home happy and full.

let it shine let it shine let it shine...

This week in sunday school we made "This little light of mine" lights. 

I think the kids enjoyed making them, and I hope they will enjoy them for a while. 

The kids painted the inside of plastic containers. They always have a such good time painting, it's very cute. 

I had already hot glued a solar light from the dollar store  in the top of the container. 

During the day the lights can be left in the window, then by night it works as a night light. 

 

don't you wish your crayons were shaped like snowflakes.

Pintrist is a wonderful place, full of all kinds of fun things to try. 

Today's project, brought to you by Pintrist was re-forming crayons. Now you can't tell me that these aren't cool. 

It was very simple. 

Target had snow flake silicone pans for $2. So I got one (now I kinda wish I'd gotten two, but O well). 

Next to the dollar store for crayons. 

Then peal off the paper wrappers, and break up the crayons.

Put the pieces in the silicone pan. I didn't grease it or anything, After being baked they poped out quite nicely.

I baked these lovely snow flakes at 350 degrees for about 15 minuets, or until completely melted.  

After I took them out of the oven, I let them cool. Trust me, you don't want to even try to take them out of the pan until they have completely cooled. They break. 

Pop them out and get your coloring on!

 These lovely little snow flake crayons will be Christmas presents for Sunday School, as well as some cute little second cousins of mine. 

pumpkins and a hay ride

Last week I picked out my pumpkins! I can't wait to carve them...
I can't decide what I want to do this year. Last year I did a Starry Night inspired pumpkin... hum what to do what to do...

 After picking out pumpkins there was a hay ride! It was a beautiful night for it!

beechnuts

On luzia pimpinella's blog I found these wonderful flowers made from beechnuts, beads and wire. They are absolutely beautiful! We have a beech tree right outside our front door and we have thousands of the nuts in the grass, in the road and on the side walk. So I went out and scooped some up!

First I had to make some of the flowers. I made them a little different then luzia pimpinella, but I think they still had a nice charm about them.

After I tried my had with the flowers I just had to take the idea and run! And so I did. I made ornaments!

There is nothing like home made ornaments and I feel that these turned out particularly wonderful.

They are fun and easy, so if you've got a beech tree that annoys you when it drops it's nuts, now you have a use for them!

fantasy football

And so it begins again...
After last year I swore I wouldn't ever, never ever ever play fantasy football ever again. And here it is a year later, a new season is starting and here I go playing another year.
This year should be better. This year I'm playing with family. I'm hoping for a lot more fun and less stressful.
The draft is today, you know, just a few hours before the first game of the season. O well. Let the fun begin...
