rockin' out

Sometimes, you have this song. It could already be in your head, or just a personal anthem of some kind. When it comes on you suddenly forget where you are, or who you are around. Now, be honest, this has happend to all of us at one point or another. It's ok to be honest.

bright idea

Sometimes it feels like everyone around you has a bright idea. Like they have everything right. 

It's so frustrating to feel like you never have that lightbulb go off in your brain. No matter how hard you try to come up with something, nothing comes. It would be so nice if you could just hold up a lightbulb and have the light turn on. Have a sparkel of an idea. But when you hold up a lightbulb all you really do is look silly with a lightbulb above your head.

But hey, it was worth a try.

feeling like a puppet on a string

In a way I feel like I've spent my whole life as a puppet on a string. Never really taking control of anything, only doing what was expected of me. I'm done with it. I'm taking control and moving forward. I'm cutting the strings.

unconditional love

I wish all love could be as simple the unconditional love from a dog. They take you as you are, love you if you love them. Dogs understand when you are in pain and want to take care of you. They revile in your happiness and enjoy life with you. 

Now I'm not saying I want a lap dog when it comes to loving people. I do, however, think it's an important part of love to see faults and to not give up on those you love. Love between people is far too complex to be unconditional. But love can never be perfect, some things have to have an air of unconditionality, otherwise love could never survive. 

assume crash positions

Sometime, there is nothing you can do but assume your crash position and wait it out. 

movies gave me false hope

Don't you hate it when you watch a movie and the girl wakes up and her hair is just perfectly messy. Then the next morning you wake up and look in the mirror and expect to see that perfectly cute and fun morning hair and what you actually get is, well, a mess. Really, it's not fair. I want movie morning hair.

tell-tale heart

Life is a funny thing.

It loves to throw curve balls at you. Always keeping you on your toes.

These curve balls are not always bad. In time everything evens out, I know that. But at the moment it all feels empty. After a while, I expect the wound to heal. The pain to fade. The the strange thing is that it's not the pain I fear. It's the empty, the blank spot. The fear that maybe this hole will never be filled.

But then, that's a silly idea. The hole will be filled, in time. Just as the Tin Man found he had a heart all along, so will I in time find that there really is something there, something in this heart of mine.

I found two "matching" framed mirrors, bought some spray paint and hooks.

Pink is not necessarily my favorite color... but the young lady I made these for is a pink girl, so I can deal with it. 

 First, I marked where I wanted to screw in the hooks. Next, I put a few nail holes in so to make the hooks easier to be put in. 

It wasn't fun to screw the hooks in, but in the end it all worked out.

Then let the spray painting commence. 

What I learned by doing this project, was that when in doubt, dont' let me spray paint. 

 But I think in the end I did ok, I think part of my problem was the frames were a little strange, it was almost as though they were coated in almost rubbery paint. No clue, but in the end it was ok. I like the crackle look, adds a bit of charm I think. 

Now, on to the stapeling! 

 I used a staple gun to staple lace to the back of the frame. Perfect for hanging ear rings on!

This is such a fun and easy DIY project. 

easy as pie.

I love making pie, particularly the crust. (I know, it's weird)

So my mom and I combined make amazing pies! Mom makes the inside and I make amazing flakey crusts.

 Feel free to print my recipe cards and add them to your collection!

Cookie cutters are one of the best ways to decorate a pie. I particularly love using stars!

and don't forget the cheese with your pie. YUM!

to see the world through your eyes

Sometimes it I think it would be very interesting to see the world through someone else's eyes. How do they see things? What do they see? Are they interested in the same things that I am? 

Always makes me wonder.

I pray for love...

It's strange the things that make you think about time, and how it goes by.
It has been 10 years since 2 planes hit 2 towers.
In 10 years so much has changed, not only in my own life, but the country has gone through some massive changes. There has been in war, we've lost loved ones, we've lived, we've learned, we've loved.

There is no one who could have predicted all that has happened. And if they did who would have believed it. No, the cars don't fly. We don't read each others minds (thank goodness). There is no time travel yet, backward or forward. In many respects the world hasn't changed. People still fall in love. We don't always treat each other with the most respect. Money is always an issue. And life is never fair.
But life goes on.
As it should.
In 10 years I hope that the country is in a better place. I'm hoping that in the next 10 years my life is in a different place.
I hope there will be peace. In every respect. In the country, in my life, in everything. There should be adventure around every corner. And I am hoping that I don't have fear to keep me from it as it comes. And love. I pray for love.

For now I will breath.
And I hope everyone else will as well.
A deep breath will do us all well.
